I’m curious, when you update your home for a new season, what is the first area you change out?
The photo above is my dining room table, it’s easy to update a centerpiece, remove the old, in with the new, done!
Next is my front door wreath and porch, it all coordinates together, so it’s a bit more time consuming to complete.
Right now, I’m not there yet, are you?
I’m sure you’re expecting Fall decor and all of the things that go with it…. y’all, I’m dragging my feet this year, really enjoying every warm late-summer day to be had.
Today I’m pruning rose bushes, because they’ll continue blooming and growing until frost, usually after Halloween. They are just beautiful, as are my hydrangeas, which will dry as a light brown color, then I’ll cut them for centerpieces.
By this weekend, I will, however, stop into a few of my favorite decor shops “just to see” what’s new and available now. I’m sure you know that if you see something you really love NOW, get it NOW, because everyone else is in line to buy that same item! Good taste, and good ideas sell out quickly. Then, I’ll store it all away until the first chilly night, or damp day, only then will I declare it to be “Fall”!
This is also the time to plan ahead for room “‘touchups” to finish before the holidays. I laughed when I wrote that last sentence, last summer I wallpapered our dining room before the Thanksgiving holiday, this year, I’ll order my drapes and a new blind to install before next Thanksgiving’s dinner. It really is a process.
Remind yourself that creating a home, takes time.
Be patient.
For now, I’ll pull out a few of my favorite items, clean them and set them aside. I’ll iron linen napkins to use for my table, I’ll dust, polish and clean. Order my drapes, I need 5 total panels for the dining room and living room both (one open space), and I’ll look forward to actually “finishing” my last years’ holiday room!
Like I said, be patient, with yourself…and me too!!!
Blessings,
Enjoy your late-summer moments,
xx,
