As November begins, my mind and energy immediately go straight to Thanksgiving!
I so look forward to this holiday, perhaps more than any other. Thanksgiving focuses solely on the attitude of gratitude , and to be aware and appreciative of the blessings in our lives. Can you imagine if this attitude was the focus of each day, of each holiday, ? What a difference that would make in our lives, our relationships and the world around us!
This year, I will not be hosting, as I have in the past, rather I will be with my daughter and her family for a quick stay in Florida! We did this last year, and it was wonderful! Fun on the beach, without a sunburn, and time with our youngest grandchildren (always never enough time, it is always so precious, being with them)!
Well, it appears I’ve skipped to the end of November, right away! Sorry, I get so excited!
Nov. 1….I will be finishing my wallpaper for the Lake Cottage entry ! When I got to the last wall, I ran OUT of paper! I have hung wallpaper for years, and certainly know how to measure, and to take into account the repeat of a pattern, but for some reason, I totally misjudged this one……I am SOOOO glad this wasn’t for a client! Embarrassing. I had to order 1 more roll, of the same run and lot #, to finish my project. The paper is from Wayfair, and it really is a high quality, weight of paper, and easy to hang and trim. Photos to follow when I’m finished!!! I hope you’ll LOVE it!!!!!
Nov. 6……Hobo Stew Party at the Cottage!
This is another reason I’m anxious to finish the wallpapering…we’re having a party, and I want the cottage to be as finished and Fall Ready as possible. My husband focuses more on the food….which I agree is important, AFTER I make a great first impression with Fall decor! I know you get me, I’m not alone in this!
Nov. 13-14…..Last weekend to get all of Summer/Fall put away, and cleaned for storage. We have to cut down perennials and shrubs to be ready for Winter, rake an endless amount of falling leaves at the Lake, discard frost-frozen Summer flowers, and do a quick check on all seals around the windows, and move lawn furniture, and gas grills inside. There’s a bit of sadness to this, isn’t there, this buttoning up for Winter while removing remnants of Summer and Fall….. (I guess you can tell I’m not overly fond of Winter,…ha! Once Christmas is “past”, Winter seems long and cold to me)
Personal Goal for November…I want to create several Holiday tablescapes, both for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I also want my home to be Christmas ready, both inside and out, all while shopping like crazy….I haven’t started yet, and I know I should have, especially with the shipping issues we’re experiencing right now.
I almost hate to ask you: When do you start your Christmas shopping? Because almost everyone has a better, more responsible answer than I do! (Ugh. Just bein’ real….)
Nov. 19-20……heading to Florida to see my kids and littles!!!!! If I could insert a happy dance right now, I WOULD!!!!
Now, if you review the above month as a to-do list, you’ll notice that Christmas needs to be ready to go, before I go anywhere!
How about you, friends? Do you travel during the holidays, or have your home filled with loved ones who traveled to you?
Either way, we are together, and that is the best Christmas gift ever!
I will be on Instagram for the entire trip, posting photos and quick messages…so you can come with me!
Again, I so appreciate all of you for following along, with this little blog and my Instagram posts! This is such a sweet and supportive community, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.
Abundant Blessings to all of you,
Beth
