“When you give a girl a flower, you’ve opened her heart towards you.”
At least, that’s how I feel about it!
What about you?
Has anyone ever given you flowers for a special occasion, to remember a special day, or simply to celebrate that YOU are in their life?
Perhaps it’s a bit “mushy” and old-fashioned, but I do swoon when my husband buys me flowers, usually for our Anniversary, my birthday, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day….so what about the “in between”, or the “just because” moments”?
Ladies….that’s when Momma brings home the shrubs!!!!!
I GO BIG!
I buy myself the “just because” flowers, as in just because I have an empty spot in the garden, the landscaping, the pot and the window box, or just because the last plant died, just because it was on sale, like I said, “just because.”
He doesn’t seem to mind.
He knows that “pretty” is important to me, inside the house and out.
Now, look closely at the cover photo, those large clay pots are calling my name, but the house doesn’t look like it’s “local”….
I think I should buy the trip to the English countryside, or southern France, to find those pots, that carry the plants, that stand in front of the house, that makes this Momma happy!
see how that works?
note: I’ll probably never get flowers again, if he happens to read this post!
Flowers bring me tremendous joy, not only at the sight or scent of them, but in the art of tending to them as they grow. The season for gardening and all things green will soon turn to the time of harvest, the crops will be picked and preserved, their stems browning from the cooler temperatures, this will all happen too soon.
I love Autumn, all things pumpkin and little goblins ringing our doorbell for candy, but I don’t want to rush ahead and not enjoy this day, a mid-summer’s day.
The days are still long, and the sun is warm on our shoulders, crops are producing their fruits for the harvest to come, and our children are still spending their days with us, not yet in the classrooms.
And, like the fleeting Summer, these days will too soon be past.
What a blessing a day is,
Enjoy them, my friend,
we’ll talk again soon,
xx,
