What a great day to start December, on a Friday, everyone’s favorite day of the work week!
Grab a coffee, tea or cocoa, and let’s talk December, and all things “holiday”…
I’ll start:)
I’m so looking forward to hosting Christmas dinner this year. We were out of town for Thanksgiving, with family, and all was wonderful. A true celebration of gathering hearts around the table while counting all of our blessings, individually and as a whole. I missed hosting…not the cleaning, planning, prep, and presentation, but the little faces around my table, tiny hands wanting to help me “stir” and mix, and watching my husband carve the turkey before we eat. The prayer before we eat, with heads bowed and little hands clasped reverently, listening to the strong and low-pitched voice of my husband.
Comforting.
Yes, I am a traditional girl, and a sentimental one…and the holiday season certainly kicks it all into high gear.
As it should.
How about you?
How will you spend Christmas? Do you put a tree up, if so, when?
Will you find yourself repeating everything you liked about last year, this year?
If so…you sound to be a bit “traditional” yourself!
December gives us one last chance to finish the year strong, to meet those deadlines and goals we made last January.
I’ll spend this month baking, shopping, shipping gifts if needed and making sure I haven’t missed last minute purchases for Christmas.
When the chores are finished and the list has all been crossed off, how do you celebrate and play this holiday season? What are your favorite activities or events to attend?
Every year, mid-December, our local theatre hosts the Holiday Pops Concert, and I’d like to attend this year’s performance. Playing a variety of well known and loved Christmas Carols, hymns and classic pieces, each year their performance is absolutely amazing. It’s one of those concerts where you literally sit on the edge of your seat, it is so beautifully performed and presented.
I’d love to invite another couple to join us, or a couple of our older grandchildren to come along, I think they’d enjoy it.
What type of holiday event rings in the season for you?
Do you have a traditional favorite that you MUST attend?
Whatever that may be, I hope you make a point of treating yourself to an event that inspires and thrills you. I know I plan to!
Christmas is at home for me this year, no traveling. How about you? Are you home for Christmas or will you be flying or on the road to celebrate?
December is the month spent on Christmas baking, cooking, recipes and entertaining How-To’s. That’s what I’m planning on sharing….if I come up with something else, you’ll be the first to know!
Wishing you all a safe, restful and peace-filled holiday season,
You’re the best gift I’ve ever had…
xx,
