March was a whirlwind; I hope April ushers in Spring!
Do you have any special plans for this month, for April?
Funny story: My cousin got married on April 1, years ago, and I thought, I’ll never forget his anniversary! Is that good luck or bad luck? I’ll let you guess!
Would you get married on April Fool’s Day?
Was that supposed to be funny, a joke? I’ll never know!
Anyway, there are other days to choose from, so I’d personally consider one of those.
OK, let’s talk “all things Spring,” Indiana is usually too cold to plant flowers or a garden until after Mother’s Day in May. I may be jumping the gun, but if we’re going to plant in May, we should plan and prepare now.
Do you garden?
Do you enjoy planting flowers, herbs or vegetables?
The “act” of preparing the soil, placing fragile small plants in the dirt and nursing them to grow, is an experience that I look forward to every year.
Speaking of “hopeful”, I added a Strawberry Fruit Tart recipe to the blog last month, to consider using for your Easter celebration. The link is here:
Spring’s Strawberry Fruit Tart
Give the recipe a look, it’s so easy to make, so pretty on your table, and looks terribly fancy and obviously difficult to achieve! I like to keep people guessing!
Also, if you missed it, last month I did a refresh/restoration of an antique hutch. Normally, I would NOT paint a piece with such character, but the REAL oak patina against my fake oak cabinets, with their orange-y glow wasn’t something I wanted to live with. Out came the chalk paint, in a soft sage color. Sage is an accent color throughout my home, so why wouldn’t it be in the kitchen?

The cabinet refresh story is here:
A Spring Refresh…
I love that the cabinet now has a softer, more compatible finish.
The inside of the cabinet was originally painted white, now discolored by time and use, so I chose an antique white to clean and freshen the interior but did not paint the old shelves. Worn and missing some paint, I chose instead to bleach and Lysol them, to sanitize them, and saved their time-worn appearance.
What do you think?
Hope you like it:)
The actual size of this piece balances the height and scale of the fireplace on the opposite side of the room.
Sorry, I know I’m sharing my “April News” with you but wanted to catch you up on my March favorites!
I hope that April “showers” you with Joy.
Joy for a new season, filled with new reasons to celebrate your days.
Again, and always, I am so grateful for your presence here, for your comments and support, and truly your conversations that reach out to connect.
“Showering” you with April blessings,
xx,
