How do you celebrate the fourth of July, Independence Day?
We use the four “F’s” as our guide, fourth, flags, fireworks and freedom, insuring we don’t skip a beat when we party!
Because the fourth of July is in the heart of summer, we celebrate at our lake cottage. Hot sun and cool water are always a win, they set the stage for hot dogs on the grill, smores around a bonfire, sparklers waving in the dark as we cheer on the boat parade, we give our dogs a mild sedative to “relax”, our children are doused in bug spray, and we wait,
wait some more,
and then a little more…
As the sun begins to set, we gather blankets to strew across the grass, and settle in for a spectacular night.
The fireworks above are as loud as they are colorful, actually brilliant. The fireworks that literally BOOM, and you can actually feel them explode, remind me of the phrase, “and the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there.”
This is our “tradition”, as a family, as a crowd with guests, or even the two of us.
This is who we are.
Patriots.
I could not be more pleased and prouder to be an American.
So, what are your “traditions” for the July 4th holiday? Same thing every year? or never the same thing twice?
Drop a line and let me know, also, what dish do you make for guests, or take to a party for the fourth? (also of great importance)!!
Happy Independence Day!
Keep sparkling!
xx,
