Do you remember holding a sparkler, half afraid of it?
Maybe you were brave.
I was not.
I would “write my name” in the darkened sky, the best I could, all while hoping I wouldn’t set my pigtails on fire!
Nerve-racking!
Needless to say, I no longer play with sparklers, but always buy them so my grandchildren can enjoy the same “experience” I did! Hopefully, they will not be emotionally scarred for life!
This holiday “weekend” is also a summer’s weekend, therefore you’ll find us at the cottage. And where there is water, suntan lotion, shorts, and swimsuits, there is also “grilling” meats, I believe that’s the American way, isn’t it?
I think so.
If you are a grill-master, or are married to one, this message is for you.
Today I’m sharing a BBQ sauce recipe that is quick and simple, taking only takes a few minutes to “cook”, and the ingredients are “already in your pantry” staples.
If you enjoy grilling meats, or preparing full meals from your grill grates, this is a must-try recipe.
“The Classic BBQ Sauce”, created by the author of Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto. Aaron Franklin is the owner of this popular Austin, TX restaurant.
And I “figured” if it’s from Texas, it’s going to be great, the entire country is aware that Texas KNOWS how to BBQ!
I am married to a “grill master”, those are his words!
He enjoys grilling, and I enjoy him keeping the heat and smoke out of the kitchen, while I prepare the sides and set the table. That’s how we operate. That’s how we “roll”!
This is one of my “sides” while my husband grills…! Just sometimes:)
I’ve saved this recipe mainly because it’s from Texas. Nobody does BBQ better than a Texan. This sauce has “real” ingredients, nothing hard to find or too fancy to afford, just an “easy to prepare” condiment.
Most of our grilling is done for our lake meals or for family and guests at the cottage.
Believe me, NOTHING is fancy, expensive or overly “impressive” at our cottage. We go there for relaxation, comfort, ease, and to play in the sun.
Whatever your plans may be for the fourth of July, which is right around the corner, I hope you have the type of day worth looking forward to.
A party? That’d be great!
Surrounded by friends and family? Perfect!
Quiet time with a book, a pet, or just sitting in the sun? Heavenly:)
However you spend this Independance Day, I hope it’s one to remember!
and be safe with those sparklers….just had to say that!
xx,
