As August arrives, I can’t help but look back and realize that these past few months have been such a rich and rewarding time for me. We’ve enjoyed hosting family and friends, birthdays, a Barn Dance, and the Fourth of July celebration at the Lake cottage.
Here’s another “thing”, a reason to celebrate…
My hydrangeas are still alive AND thriving! Bonus!!
You may laugh out loud or politely giggle, but the struggle is very real. Here’s the why: We own a small cottage on a small bay of a not-too-small lake, running back on forth on the weekends, every weekend, all summer long, means that growing plants suffer when momma’s not home. Fortunately, Hydrangeas are quite sturdy when well-watered.
You may have noticed, (and thank you for not pointing that out!) that this August Newsletter is now a day or so late. I am primarily trying to catch-up on all of my “to-do’s” I had planned to get done each previous month! Sad to say, but not really!!!, that LIFE was busy, and at times, I was simply needed elsewhere.
I feel I’m going to be okay, until I’m behind again…can anyone else relate?
What about you?
Are you back-to-school ready, or are you grabbing a quick last-minute vacation to somewhere wonderful?
The garden is thriving now, and if you don’t have your own garden, shop fresh at local farm markets for the best produce of the year.
I picked red beets at a farmer’s garden less than a mile from home. Generously, he deliberately plants MORE than what his family can consume, can or freeze for a year, and he openly offers the rest to friends and neighbors, simply because. Because, he is simply a “good man”. What an incredible friend and neighbor to have. I was thrilled, and ran home and made pickled beets!
However you find joy, however you spend your time as summer winds down, I hope you enjoy every second.
xx,
Beth
