Well friends, my “Hello and Happy New Year!” is off a few days…embarrassing but true.
How did you celebrate the arrival of the new year? Did you go out, party? or in this flu-covid-season did you stay home and celebrate quietly?
Either way, it’s 2024 and here we are.
What I personally can’t get over, maybe you feel this way too, is that 2023 flew by like some sort of a jet-fueled device…crazy fast, and I feel like my head is spinning in response.
I’ve been in a sort of a slump recently, hate to admit it, my holiday plans were made, altered than delayed so many times it became disheartening. Because of the flu or some other virus our Christmas celebration occurred somewhere in January, or so it seemed.
How about you?
Were you able to stay healthy and to gather with loved ones?
The Santa mugs with a bit of greenery are all I have left of Christmas in the kitchen. The main tree will come down this weekend and a million white lights will be rolled into multiple loops all roped together…ornaments will find a spot in old boxes to store away.
Have you put away your Christmas decor?
I hate to see it go, so I always linger a bit by hanging on to a few favorite views. My Santa mugs were on sale, they’re from Pottery Barn, substantial in size and weight, well made, and they make me smile! They’ll stay here awhile…
How do you start your years, your January? This is the month of starting anew, clearing out and cleaning up, the month of “editing” for me.
I declutter and clean from room to room, throw away or donate what I can, pull out my planner and add “myself” onto the to-do list.
Over the years, I’ve found that if you don’t plan for self-care, don’t plan for a date with your husband or special someone, and don’t plan to play by scheduling in something fun, your life becomes all work, all duties met, and you’ll be lost in the shuffle.
Please remember to be kind to yourself, this may be our best year yet!
Whatever January may hold for you, I wish you well, stay healthy and stay warm!
Hugs!
xx,
