It’s just the two of us….so let’s talk Summer!
I realize May is technically a NON summer month, but a girl can dream, am I right?!!
What is your favorite month of the year?
Many people choose Christmas and their birthday month, I guess they love a good party! I was, by the way, also born in the summer, and warm weather and sun on my shoulders always makes me happy.
I know children look forward to the end of the school year. Parents? Of course they do!
When the backpack hits the kitchen floor, after the last school day is over, watch out…
Summer. Has. Begun.!
What are your plans for this month?
I’m attending a Spring Concert next week. My violinist is in fifth grade.
I’m not expecting a fine arts’ performance, because I sat in that chair myself, years ago. First concerts are nerve- wracking for the students, at least they were for me!
The day before Mother’s Day, I’ll be attending a college graduation.
Hannah, my granddaughter, will receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Design.
The day following graduation is Mother’s Day.
How do you celebrate Mother’s Day? Now that my children are grown with families of their own, it’s rare that I can actually see them for the day. I still get spectacular artwork from my grandchildren through the mail! Church, followed by a brunch was always my favorite way to spend the Sunday when my girls were at home. No cooking AND no dirty dishes makes any momma happy!
Following the graduation party, we’ll head for the lake, mowing and having the pier put in is our plan. This small cottage still requires big effort to open for the season. This year we have the usual maintenance, but we also have to rescreen our porch, and I’d really like to get new double screen doors to create a “real” entry onto our deck, which faces the lake.
Also, I have some craft/decor ideas I’d like to add to the outside of our cottage. These are nautical pieces I picked up at garage and estate sales (actually, my husband bought them, and I kept them!) I’m planning on doing a reel on Instagram and Facebook showing the process of painting and displaying the finished pieces. You’ll have to check it out!
Memorial Day weekend is last on the list, and naturally, we celebrate at the lake!
This year we’ll have a small group, nine total, which includes four children. Oh! plus Jon and I! I’ll have to get a final headcount, not because it’s too many, it’s smaller than previous years’, but I’ll need to plan accordingly for the food. Again, the “menu” is extremely casual!
More as we go, friends!
Enjoy these sweet “warming” days, soon we’ll complain about the heat and the dry ground and dying grass….
Happy Memorial Day, enjoy this day, remember those who have served our Country, and who are currently serving to protect us from harm, and to preserve our liberties.
God Bless,
