Lauren, our youngest, now a College Graduate and working on her Masters’ Degree, we are so proud of you!
Goodness, where does time go?
I met this little one when she was four years old, briefly, she was attending a local festival with her brother and father, Jon. I had met Jon years earlier, recognized him, and stopped to say, “Hello!” He introduced his children to me in a brief conversation. A couple of years later, she became our youngest!
This month of May, schools are closing for the Summer, and graduates are celebrating their successes and making plans! Parties to host and parties to attend. May literally pushes us into summer, it is not subtle!
Lauren’s birthday, college graduation and Mother’s Day were all on the same weekend, three celebrations within two days!
We felt fortunate, and touched, that she wanted a party at “home”, surrounded by friends and family.
Because May could be cold, hot, or rainy, unpredictable either way, we set up tables inside to be weather resistant. We had the food catered to save time, ordered a large sheet cake, decorated the tables and set up chairs. We were ready!
My crafty contribution was a large balloon arched focal point in the dining room. The balloons proudly displayed the school colors, which also coordinated with the sheet cake, creating the perfect backdrop for photos taken.
This was my first time making an arch of balloons! I had ordered a balloon-blower on Amazon, read the instructions, and got to work. My daughter has pointed out to me (as daughters’ do), that I had “overfilled” the balloons, causing many to explode in my face, or later randomly exploding in my dining room! Fun times:)
I added balloons filled with silver and gold confetti, and tied them to our post light denoting this was the home of a graduate! You were at the right place, the place to party!
As the afternoon sun began to warm the balloons, my post light began to explode silver and gold confetti throughout my landscaping, sinking deep into the mulch and shrubs. My husband wants you to know that “for a YEAR he was finding confetti in the mulch”! I found this all to be humorous, apparently, he did not.
Are you hosting a graduation party this May? High school, college, or a Kindergarten graduation? Whatever the students’ age, they will want a party of their own, to celebrate their successes and growth.
The party we gave was centered around the graduates’ desire to have a simple party at home, sharing her special day and accomplishments with dear friends and loving family.
I hope you enjoy the activities that truly belong to the month of May. Mother’s Day, school’s close for summer break, Memorial Day, a holiday of its own, as well as kicking off the summer season!
Congratulations to all of our Graduates! Well done!
XO,
