April: Spring makes its’ appearance, Easter confirms our faith
As the weather starts to warm, our thoughts turn to Spring. To life anew. Gardens and flowerpots to plant and fill, trees budding then blooming with their sweet scents filling the air.
Easter, the celebration, the Resurrection affirming our Faith.
How do you celebrate Easter? Will you be in worship services? Will you be hosting a family dinner to celebrate? An egg hunt for the children?
I’m hosting Easter dinner this year for all of my family who can make it. My Mother and brother will attend, my husband and I, my youngest daughter, son-in-law and their four children and my designer granddaughter will be here. That’s a table for Eleven!
As we get closer to Easter, I’ll share my tablescape ideas, with photos, and some of our favorite recipes. Over the years, there are certain recipes that you MUST include for every holiday event! The tried and true, easy, filling and favorites that are always requested, will be on my table. I can only imagine that it’s the same way around your table!
Now, my daughters, all grown, married, with families of their own, live in different states than I do. Too far away to just pop in, they come with their overnight bags, and stay as long as they can, before they have to head home. This is Easter Amplified! So much fun! Babies in jammies with curls all smushed from their pillows, it’s just the sweetest time when they’re here. The extended time together, means an extended menu. I try to make ahead, as much as possible. Saving time, which also saves on stress at the last minute. My holiday meal is pretty much made the night before, saving only the meat to bake, while warming the side dishes at the same time. Salads and desserts are made and ready, coffee is on, and drinks are poured before we sit down to eat. I also like a pretty table for the holidays…actually, I ALWAYS like a pretty table! I set the table the night before, which is a great time saver.
When my kids spend the night, the beds are freshly made, rooms are cleaned, the bathrooms are stocked with towels and toiletries and scrubbed till they shine! I don’t want to spend my precious time with them, running to the store for toilet paper or shampoo!
Then there’s breakfast, next day, and I have a few great recipes I’ll be sharing. Make ahead, again!, casseroles for breakfast, and I have a Lemon Ricotta muffin recipe that is incredible. For breakfast, or any meal, or snack, or just because. It’s easy to make, and moist every time! I’ll share the recipe, and other favorites, when I post photos of the table.
This may sound like a lot of work, but over the years, I have a routine that works for me. I’d love to share some of my tips for entertaining, all easily learned and applied. Remember, the hostess, YOU, needs to enjoy herself in order for others to enjoy themselves….no pressure there!!! Stress kills holidays and will close a party down faster than a drunken Uncle!!!
Please join me this Spring, this April, as we host Easter dinner. Come sit at my table, have a Lemon Ricotta muffin and Rhubarb Raspberry pie, while we get to know each other!
Coffee’s on! See you soon,
Have a slice of Raspberry Rhubarb Pie with Vanilla Bean ice cream on top!
